Your Magnificent Body

Have you ever stopped to consider how absolutely magnificent and beautiful your body is? If I had to guess I'd say no most of us don't. Most of us spend our lives looking outside of ourselves and then back measuring ourselves against the appearance of others. Especially today in an age of social media where there are so many tools that enable us to edit perceived imperfections and enhance our appearance to make us into what we imagine is desirable. You are perfect just the way you are.
You have forgotten that you, your true selves, your god selves, are not your body. You have forgotten that you are spirit inhabiting a body for a short time to experience this life, not the reverse. Your body is the one thing that is with you from your first breath to your last. Doesn’t it make sense then that you should love your body just as you love your family, friends and pets? We generally put more energy into caring for our cars and homes than our bodies. Don’t get me wrong, I know that you will say but I exercise, eat right, get rest, isn’t that taking care of my body? Yes and no. Is your body your best friend? How many times during a given day do you judge, condemn or criticize an aspect of your body? Your body is a sentient being, it has feelings just as you as spirit do. Would you speak this way to your loved ones? Probably not, then why do you speak this way to your body? The more aware you become of your negative thoughts the more you can begin to change them. You can begin today. Start by connecting in with your heart. Simply think of something or someone that brings the feeling of love into your heart. Really feel into it and notice the sensation. You will likely feel a sense of peace and calm. Now I want you to acknowledge one or two aspects of your physical self that you like or even love. Focus on this area and send the love you feel in your heart there. Sit with this for a moment and notice the sensations that arise from this. Do you feel peace, calm, love, joy, harmony? My guess is that you probably feel at least one or more of these. Continue with this practice throughout the week and then progress to the areas that you are not in love with. Do the same exercises and notice the positive changes that occur. Become self-aware. Your thoughts have power beyond your imagination’s understanding. Notice how your body responds positively to this and just imagine what or who else you can affect with loving, compassionate and caring thoughts. One more thing, please show your body gratitude for giving you a vehicle to navigate this world in whatever form it takes.
